Come Join in the Fun!

There's a virtual baby shower going on at 5 Minutes for Mom. There are party games and prizes. Here are my answers to their questions:

1. The most sympathy-inspiring delivery photo.
This was when they handed her to me for the first time. I didn't get to hold her right away because she had swallowed some meconium and blood and they were checking her out. I was 100% exhausted at this point (see delivery story below) and was just glad to be holding her.

2. The best (perhaps biggest) baby bump.
I refused to show my face for this...that whole swollen end of pregnancy face. But this was 3 days before my daughter was born.

3. The most remarkable, interesting or brutal delivery story.
In late July this year I had my second daughter. She was 2 days overdue and estimated to be big so they induced me. They started the induction by trying to soften the cervix, that was slow and took hours. But once they started the pitocen it went FAST! Once the water broke there was maybe 20 minutes before my daughter was born. And I only pushed for 5 minutes. Sounds easy, right? Nope! It was awful and completely unmedicated...I don't count that evil pitocin as medication, it causes more pain than anything. And my daughter weighed 9 pounds 1/2 ounce...needless to say, blasting out a baby that big can do some painful damage to the mommy. I was begging my husband to shoot me through that 20 minutes and I wasn't kidding, I really wanted to die at that point just to make the pain stop. Now I'm glad I didn't die, but I'm in no rush to have another little one right now...we'll see if ever at this point.

A few gifts at the shower:
There's a mini sling that was given to the mommy's at 5 Minutes for Mom and is just too cute! I could see my little Mackenzie carrying her dolls around in it. There's also a shower hug towel that looks just heavenly. And something that looks wonderful is the Cushie Pushie pillow that helps aid with breastfeeding.

Tell us your favorite baby name for a boy and a girl.
I obviously love the names Mackenzie and Jocelyn since those are my daughters. But for boys both my husband and I like Alexander and Jackson.

Enjoyed your story and inducing is never pleasant. I could completely relate with the please let it end. My poor husband was helpless!
